Trickerion: Anniversary Edition

Players take the roles of Victorian-era illusionists competing for fame and resources. Each round, players assign apprentices and specialists via worker placement and simultaneous action selection to gather components, research and acquire new tricks, build stage apparatus, and prepare performances in the theater. Performances at the end of each round generate income and Fame points; Fame unlocks access to more advanced tricks and abilities. The game emphasizes planning and engine-building as players balance short-term revenue with long-term reputation, while managing a shared market, tableau of tricks, and upgrades to their workshop and show.

Who takes initiative each round — the most famous player or the least famous?

Initiative is reverse Fame: the player with lower Fame acts before players with higher Fame (initiative ordering is determined by Fame). (page 11)

When do I pay wages and return characters and posters to my supply?

Wages are paid and characters/posters are returned during the End Turn step; orders are resolved and performance cards rotated/discarded as part of end‑of‑turn processing. (page 19)

Can my hired characters perform tricks, or only my Magician can perform?

Only the Magician performs tricks; other characters are placed on action slots to enable learning, preparing, hiring, buying, moving, etc., but they do not themselves perform. (pages 17, 18)

How do trick Links and Shards work — do I get their bonuses as soon as I set up the trick or only when I perform?

Links are created when you Set Up a trick and define linked slots, but the bonuses and shard effects from links are applied during performance yield resolution. (pages 17, 26)

What are the requirements for learning a new Trick — do I need a certain Fame level or can I just pay coins?

Learning Tricks requires meeting the Fame thresholds for the Trick’s level and paying the listed cost (the rules describe Fame thresholds and any cost differences and favorite‑category effects when learning). (page 14)

How many components can I buy from the Market Row and how do the different purchase actions work?

The Market Row has placement and a 3‑item limit and components are acquired through specific actions (Bargain, Order, Quick Order) with their own rules and any Manager extension bonuses applying as specified. (page 15)
