Aces of Valor

A solitaire game about World War One aerial combat on the Western Front. Players command a fighter squadron through a campaign of 8, 12, or 16 missions, including patrols, trench strafing, photo reconnaissance, artillery spotting, balloon busting, and bomber escort. Aircraft move across a gridded map while anti-aircraft fire and enemy fighters create hazards. Combat uses an initiative track where pilot skill, aircraft performance, and luck determine the outcome. Mission points support repairs, replacements, and aircraft upgrades before contributing to a minor, major, or strategic victory.
