Caesar: Conquest of Gaul

Players reenact Roman campaigns in Gaul and neighboring regions during the late Republican period, commanding legions, allied auxilia and hired cavalry against a variety of tribal forces and coastal fleets. Scenarios cover pitched battles, a channel invasion and amphibious actions; play uses hex-based maneuver, unit-scale infantry cohorts and cavalry, simplified command rules, artillery mechanics, and special tribe rules for impetuosity and ferocity. Naval units (galleys, sail ships and transports) appear in maritime scenarios. The system supports one to four players and solitaire play, with turns representing about 20 minutes and hexes of roughly 75 yards.
