Cedar Mountain: Prelude to Bull Run, August 9, 1862

A tactical simulation of the August 9, 1862 meeting engagement in which one side launches a spoiling attack and then conducts a fighting withdrawal against a superior opponent. Players command brigades and batteries on a hex map scaled to roughly 125 yards per hex, with each strength point representing about 100 men or one gun. Turns represent 30 minutes of real time and use the Great Battles of the American Civil War ruleset for movement, combat, and command. Victory depends on controlling geographic objectives and inflicting unit losses; play emphasizes maneuver, timed attacks, and orderly withdrawal under pressure.
