Demyansk Shield: the Frozen Fortress, February-May 1942

A two-player wargame covering the German-Soviet campaign in the Valday Hills region from late January through May 1942. Soviet attacks threaten to encircle German forces at Demyansk and break the southern wing of the German 16th Army. Players maneuver historical battalion- to brigade-sized units across a map of the campaign area and resolve combat according to the rules. Each turn represents six days, with hexes covering approximately two miles. One side wins by capturing specified objectives, while the other seeks to prevent those victory conditions. Scenarios and components support extended play and medium-high solitaire playability.
