Descent on Malta

A solitaire operational-level simulation of the planned but never executed Axis airborne assault on the British island fortress of Malta. Players command German and Italian forces while the game system controls Allied forces and their reactions, seeking to capture Malta while minimizing casualties. The area-movement map covers Malta, Gozo, Comino, and surrounding waters, with displays for Axis units in Sicily and southern Italy. Ground units represent regiments, battalions, and companies, while air units represent squadrons. Each turn covers four hours to two days of combat and refitting. Optional rules support two to seven players controlling different parts of the invasion.
