Night Drop: 6 June 44

A wargame covering the first hours of the Allied airborne operation in Normandy on 6 June 1944. The American player commands scattered units of the 82nd Airborne Division, regrouping paratroopers into companies and regiments while securing bridges, roads, crossroads, and other objectives around Sainte-Mère-Église and Amfreville. Randomized drops leave American forces vulnerable and create uncertainty about their priorities. The German player takes advantage of the confusion to pursue isolated units and disrupt the reorganization, while gradually identifying Allied objectives and receiving reinforcements as daylight arrives. Hidden priorities and changing unit strengths allow American attacks to mislead German defenses. Each turn represents one hour, with hexes covering 400 meters.
