Plantagenet: Cousins' War for England, 1459 - 1485

Two rival factions struggle for control of 15th-century England in a campaign-spanning simulation of the Wars of the Roses. Players command Yorkist or Lancastrian forces across sequential scenarios or a full war, using military operations to move and fight and political operations to court nobles and cities. Armies require provender and coin, and leaders must build and maintain networks of allied lords whose loyalties can shift. Battles aim to kill or capture key nobles and affect each side’s reputation; ravaging and looting have political consequences. The game models changing loyalties, logistics, and campaign-level maneuvering across the three main phases of the conflict.

After a few more plays, it's evident that it's a totally different game than Nevsky, but surely as good if not even better. [prev comment] Four plays in, it seems lighter than Nevsky, more dynamic and for the most part a tug-of-war not completely unlike TS. But then the battles start and you see how meaningful they are, they can make you win or lose a game in one turn after many turns of attrition. I like that the mechanisms are simpler than Nevsky, it makes for a different game. I prefer Nevsky at times for being so mean and hard to figure out stuff and rendering the setting perfectly, but this is just more fun. I found the rules pretty badly laid out and somehow incorrect or imprecise in a couple of places.
