The Battle at Kemble's Cascade

It’s an 80s shoot-’em-up in board game form! Fly through a scrolling space backdrop, blast aliens and rival pilots, dodge asteroids and black holes, and hunt for power-ups and ancient technology. Complete missions, collect treasure, destroy enemy ships, and upgrade weapons, engines, and shields to earn the most glory. Manage energy between movement, firepower, and absorbing enemy attacks while the threat level sends bullets and larger enemies across the battlefield.

This game emulates the 8 bit atari space game very well. That being said, this game is not ready for prime time. It felt like there were a lot of rules they changed or pulled out when it was close to production, and then they didn't test the game enough in it's new form, so there are some artifacts of the old rules like icons that mean nothing, turn order mechanics that are weak, and some techs and goal cards that aren't balanced. The plastic trays you use to hold the rows of cards are super poor quality. ☆ Art, Iconography and components functional ★ Clever or interesting mechanisms ★ Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players ★ Multiple plays stay interesting ★ Low or mitigatable luck elements ☆☆☆☆☆ Raw enjoyment
