The Toxic Wood

An Old School Essentials hexcrawl sends adventurers into a deadly forest where corrosive air and noxious gases erase anything outside its lethal ecosystem. Hired by a secretive council of wizards, they must locate the survivors of Mugwort and guide them to safety while avoiding the dragon whose arrival transformed the wood. A magical orb creates a protective dome of clean air, but must be fueled with life force to keep working. Players navigate the red haze, manage limited protection, and contend with mutated horrors, insectoid witches, redcaps, mushroom magic, and a dragon cult. Random tables and table-ready encounters support play with minimal preparation.
