Stupor Mundi

Players act as vassals in the realm of Frederick II, recruiting allies from across the Mediterranean, constructing castle buildings, and promoting specialists to develop their domains. A card-selection system determines available actions and can trigger edicts that alter the imperial palace and the value of allies. Castles may be upgraded—towers increase ally capacity, walls expand resource storage, and keeps improve action management—affecting what players can do and hold. Players balance loyalty to the emperor against support for independent allies, watch opponents’ moves, and form or break alliances to maximize their kingdom’s growth.

On my turn can I move my Ship and then play more than one Action card?

You may travel (move your Ship 1–4 spaces) and then play one Action card to perform its action; once you resolve that action the next player takes their turn, and you may take further turns later in the Action Phase until you pass. (pages 8–9)

If I play an Action card face-down, can I perform both main actions pointed to by the soldiers' spears?

No — a face-down Action card lets you perform only one of the main actions indicated by the spears on the back of the card. (page 8)

Can my Specialist change paths or can more than one Specialist reach the City on the same path?

A Specialist may never change path; you can have multiple Specialists on the same path or space (except City Workplaces), but only one Specialist from a given path may reach that path's City Workplace. (page 10)

When is an Edict issued and what do I do when one is issued?

An Edict is issued when you take an action on any edict-marked space (examples: certain Castle Builds, placing an Ally, or a Workplace with an Edict); you choose one face-up Active Edict, take its reward, then activate each icon by adding/removing the indicated items to/from Frederick's Palace and finally replace the resolved Edict tile. (page 11)

If an Edict adds Structures to Frederick's Castle, do those Structures have to be connected to existing ones?

No — when adding Structures to Frederick's Castle via an Edict, the new Structures do not have to be connected to existing ones. (page 11)

When do I receive the income from a closed side of my Castle?

When you complete (close) a side by connecting two Towers with a Wall you immediately gain that side's bonus, and that same income is granted again during each subsequent End Phase. (pages 12 and 15)
