Big City

Big City

Players collect deed cards from eight neighborhood piles and use them to place plastic building pieces on a shared city grid, constructing structures that occupy one to three spaces. Each placed building scores a base value plus location-based bonuses determined by adjacent buildings. A city hall card must be played by a player (scoring no points for that play) before larger commercial and civic structures can be placed; until then, only simple residences and businesses may be built. Gameplay focuses on card acquisition, spatial placement, and optimizing adjacency for maximum points while managing the timing of the city hall activation.

Fairly quick playtime. Cute components. Most of the game revolves around deducing where your opponents are preparing a big point score, and then making that area worse for them. In some ways it's a little random since you need to be lucky and draw the contracts for several consecutive lots in order to build the larger buildings for the most points.

Not only is it a great tile laying game - the bits are some of the best ever!
