Chalons: The Fate of Europe

In the mid-fifth century AD, Attila’s Huns invade Western Europe and face a Roman-led coalition under Flavius Aetius on the Catalaunian Plain. Players command armies of swordsmen, archers, javelin throwers, horsemen, ballistas, and other units in a tabletop simulation of the battle. The system uses rules for leaders, charges, melee, diversionary attacks, ambushes, and demoralization. Deployment, maneuver, timing, and the differing strengths of each army determine the outcome, while prominent commanders influence combat.
