Rules questions
Answered from the rulebook by Ludoya's rules assistant.
How many rounds are there, and how many cards should I have at the end of a round?
Each round, everyone draws 3 garden cards, and the game has 4 rounds per round of scoring. By the end of the fourth round, each player must have exactly 12 cards forming 3 complete beds of 4 cards each (p. 1; p. 2).
Do I keep all three cards I draw?
No. Choose one card to keep, then pass the other two face down—one to your left neighbor and one to your right. In a two-player game, use the special pass-and-return procedure described in the rules (p. 1).
Can I move cards around after I’ve placed them, or put them diagonally?
You may place cards anywhere in your beds, including diagonally adjacent positions, but you cannot move or cover a card once it has been placed. Your three cards for a round can go into one bed or be split among up to three beds (p. 1).
How do I score a bed?
A one-color bed scores 3 points, a two-color bed 1, and a three-color bed 0. Add 1 point per whole salad, 1 point if the bed has no half salads, and 1 point per tomato-and-pepper pair (p. 2).
Can one bed score for several animal cards?
No. Each bed can count for only one animal card, and each animal card can be fulfilled by only one of your beds. Each qualifying bed earns 5 points (p. 2).
How do the bonus points work, and what happens in a tie?
After scoring beds, the player with the most bed points gets 10 bonus points, the player with the fewest gets none, and everyone else gets 5; then score animal cards. After the third scoring round, the highest total wins; a tie is broken by the most points in the final round, or shared if still tied (p. 2).
