Pergola
Players develop their own garden plots by placing plants, insects, and small animals into a personal grid. On a turn a player selects one of four tools, takes the items shown for that tool, arranges them in their garden, and resolves the tool’s action. Varied placement choices and tool effects create unique garden layouts over fifteen rounds, and scoring depends on the final arrangement of elements. The player with the most points at the end wins.

If I pick a tool, do I have to do the action shown under it or can I pick the tool and do a different action?
You must perform the action shown under the tool you choose (p.4), unless you use the teal lantern which lets you perform a different action when you choose a tool (p.12, p.16).
Do I have to place butterflies/ladybugs from the bottom up or in any specific order?
No — you may place butterflies on any free hollyhock spot and ladybugs on any free magnolia spot in any order, and flying insects may be placed freely if no spot is available (p.6–7).
Can I move dragonflies with the Insect Flutter action or otherwise reposition them?
No — dragonflies cannot be moved with an insect flutter (or any other) action; small dragonflies are placed on lavender leaf pairs and medium/large dragonflies fly freely but remain fixed once placed (p.9; insect flutter rules p.10).
What do I need to do to get a dragonfly from the pond with a frog jump, and can I take the same dragonfly-reward more than once?
To jump to a lily with dragonflies you must meet that lily’s specific requirement (e.g., 4 magnolias, 4 hollyhocks, 4 buttercups, or 4 lavender leaves) and you may only gain one dragonfly per given requirement — to get another you must fulfill a different requirement (p.11).
When a waterdrop reaches the bottom of the cascade what happens and can both my waterdrops take the same cascade bonus?
When a waterdrop reaches the bottom you take a butterfly, ladybug, or bee and claim one cascade bonus; you may gain at most two bonuses in the game but each bonus may be chosen only once, so if both waterdrops reach the bottom they must be placed on different bonus spots (p.11).
If I already filled a honey pot, can I move the bees used to fill it later with Insect Flutter without losing the honey pot?
Yes — once you fill a honey pot it stays filled; you may later move those bees with insect flutter and the pot remains filled, and bees used to fill one pot still count toward filling later pots (p.12).
