Dune: War for Arrakis

Compete for control of a desert planet whose Spice is vital to interstellar travel and power. Players take on rival factions and maneuver units across the planet, mobilizing troops like native desert fighters and elite soldiers, while protecting and deploying Spice harvesters into hazardous territory. Gameplay is asymmetrical: each faction has distinct abilities and objectives. Players resolve actions using a dice-driven action system, manage event cards that change conditions and opportunities, and contest locations and resources through tactical movement and combat. Victory comes from fulfilling a faction’s specific win conditions while denying opponents control of key regions and the Spice supply.

The combat system is better than WotR. It's way more streamlined and flow better. Less randomness with the action dice as they all gives you overlapping possibilities. But it doesn't do much for me. It's kinda meh playing as the Harkonnen by just buying VP for spice or attacking Sieches.

Impressionant, altament recomanable, se sent molt atòmic i ben equilibrat. Plasma l'antagonisme i les mecàniques entre faccions de forma brillant, com més jugues més ganes tens de seguir descobrint la tàctica i estratègia amagades. Inmersió total en un temps ajustat, no us el perdeu!

Rules questions

Answered from the rulebook by Ludoya's rules assistant.

Does the 6-unit limit in an area include leaders or deployment tokens?

Leaders are excluded from the 6-unit limit, but deployment tokens do count toward that limit (Rulebook p.13).

Can I split a stack of legions and move parts of it into different areas with one movement?

Yes — the basic movement rules allow you to split legions and move them into multiple adjacent areas according to the splitting and multi-area movement rules (Rulebook p.22).

When a sandworm appears, does it only remove Harvesters or can it destroy my troops and vehicles too?

Sandworms remove Harvesters and can also affect units and vehicles in the attacked area; Wormsign placement, carryall rescues, and sandworm movement/attack resolution are covered in the desert hazard and sandworm rules (Rulebook pp.20, 31).

When and how can I claim or use Prescience cards and how do Prescience markers work?

Prescience markers and cards are placed and claimed according to the claim timing and requirements shown in the Prescience section — you place markers, may claim a Prescience card when you meet its requirements at the specified timing, and follow the discard/reshuffle rules as described (Rulebook pp.28–29).

When do players harvest spice — is it when I move through an area or at a specific time?

Spice is collected during Phase 4 (Spice Harvesting); you do not harvest as part of movement — see the Phase 4 harvest rules and special Harkonnen harvesting rules (Rulebook pp.15, 21, 16).
