Players take on the roles of Marvel S.H.I.E.L.D. heroes defending New York City while some secretly act as HYDRA agents. Gameplay combines social deduction with cooperative objectives: loyal players work together to complete missions and retrieve the Cosmic Cube, while hidden traitors secretly sabotage efforts and advance HYDRA’s plans. Players discuss, investigate, and vote to identify suspects, while each turn’s actions and mission outcomes drive the board state toward either the city’s salvation or destruction.
