Hare & Tortoise

Players race to the finish while managing a shared pool of carrots as movement fuel and three mandatory lettuce cards to spend during the game. Movement costs carrots proportional to distance moved, and players gain or lose carrots through board spaces and special rules; the goal is to arrive with about ten carrots or fewer remaining. Hare squares and similar spaces introduce catch-up mechanics or penalties, and several common variants alter how those spaces work (miss-a-turn, delayed rewards, or payments when overtaken). Turns consist of choosing how far to move, paying carrots, optionally playing lettuce cards, and resolving space effects until one player meets the finish condition.

I played it when I was a child and now in 2016 again. But I'll play it never again. Too much luck involved. Start player has a big advantage. And it takes too long for a simple game like that.
