Scarabya

As an archaeologist, establish camps, explore the landscape, and uncover long-lost golden scarabs. Place tiles to create enclosed zones of 1 to 4 squares, scoring points for each scarab based on the size of its zone. All players place the same tiles simultaneously on their individual boards, and the player with the most points after 12 tiles wins.

Each player gets a symmetrical board, and then each turn a card flips that tells which tile everyone will simultaneously place into their board. The goal is to surround the scarab tokens in a way to get them to score the highest amount possible, and there are some dead spaces with stone markers that can't have a tile placed on them. The tetris tiles you use are interestingly shaped, and it's a nice puzzle figuring out which tile you want to place where, planning ahead for future tile flips. The downside of the game is that it simply feels samey even across two or three plays. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :star: Clever or interesting mechanisms :star: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :nostar: Multiple plays stay interesting :star: Low or mitigatable luck elements :star::star::nostar::nostar::nostar: Raw enjoyment
