Kingdomino

Players act as lords expanding a 5x5 realm by drafting and placing domino-style terrain tiles with two terrain sections each. Each turn players select a tile from a visible draft, then add it to their grid with at least one side matching an adjacent terrain type already in the kingdom. Turn order shifts based on tile selection: choosing higher-value tiles moves a player later in the next round. The game ends after players complete their grids or run out of space, and scoring counts contiguous terrain areas multiplied by crown symbols on those tiles.

#46 BGExpansions in Box Hm, I was waiting forever for a wheat crown tile. Bad luck that 4 of 5 were put out of the game. So no chance for me. I guess it's better when all tiles are in the game. 4 player game was a better experience than the 3 player one. Good family game. Rules questions

Answered from the rulebook by Ludoya's rules assistant.

Do both squares of a domino have to match adjacent terrain when I place it, or is one match enough?

One matching square is enough — you must connect the domino to your starting tile (the starting tile is wild) or match at least one terrain horizontally or vertically to another domino (p.2).

If a domino can be placed, do I have to place it even if it hurts my territory?

Yes — if a domino can be placed according to the Connection Rules it MUST be played (p.2).

What happens if I can't place a domino on my turn?

If it is impossible to place the domino following the rules then discard the domino and you earn no points from it (p.2).

How are regions scored at the end of the game?

Each region scores as many points as its number of squares multiplied by the number of Fire symbols (printed on dominoes and on Fire tokens) inside that region; a region without any fire is worth zero (p.3).

Do volcano squares or regions made of volcanoes score points?

No — volcanoes are not exploitable terrain and a region of volcanoes will not earn points at the end of the game (p.2).

Do wooden resources on dominoes count as points, and do the printed resource icons on dominoes count as resources?

In Totem Mode each wooden resource left on your dominoes is worth 1 point and Totem tiles give bonus points (p.4); the terrain icons on dominoes only show where to place wooden resource pieces and are not resources themselves (p.3); in Tribe Mode wooden resources do not score points (p.5).
