The Game of Ancient Kingdoms
Players build connected kingdoms using colored hex tiles, placing their pieces on an open table rather than a board. Each player controls blank tiles, a King, and a Warrior, with placement limited so that no more than five tiles of the same color are connected initially. On each turn, players generally exchange the positions of two tiles, aiming to unite all of their own tiles into one connected group. The King protects the tiles in its group and can only be displaced by another player’s King, while the Warrior provides additional movement options. Moving the King beyond its free move incurs a penalty.
