Yokai Pagoda
Players explore a haunted pagoda and attempt to calm ten yokai by managing numbered spirit cards over three rounds. Each turn a player plays one card from hand to a discard pile and resolves its effect: matching the same yokai or number forces another player to take a card; playing a different yokai with a higher number lets the active player draw either from the deck or the top of the opposite discard pile; playing a different yokai with a lower number either does nothing or allows the player to end the current round if their hand’s total (counting only the lowest card of each yokai type) is three points or less. At round end, players move remaining hand cards to a personal reserve. After three rounds, the player with the lowest reserve score (again counting only the lowest card per yokai) wins.

How do I calculate the points in my hand (and at the end of the game)?
Sort your cards by Yokai type and add only the lowest card of each Yokai; that sum is your hand total and the same method is used for final scoring (see page 2).
When can I close the round?
If you play a card that is a different Yokai and lower than the offering pile, and your hand total is 3 or less, you may reveal your hand and choose to close the round; a round also ends when a player has no cards after their turn (pages 1–2).
If I play a card that matches the offering pile, what happens?
When your card matches in Yokai or number, you hand one of your cards (face-down) to any player you choose; if that leaves you with no cards, the chosen player draws the top card of the Pagoda deck (page 1).
If I play a non-matching card that's higher than the offering pile, what must I do?
You must choose to either draw the top card from the Pagoda deck or draw the top card from the opposite offering pile; if you take the last card of an offering pile, reveal the top Pagoda card and place it where the offering pile was (page 1).
What happens to unplayed cards when a round ends?
Unplayed cards in your hand are placed face-down into your personal pool of failed offerings (you may sort or check this pool but cannot mix or discard those cards), and they count toward your final score using the lowest-per-type rule (page 2).
What do we do if the Pagoda deck runs out of cards?
Shuffle all cards from the two offering piles except the top card of each pile to form a new Pagoda deck (page 2).
