Faraway
Players explore a shifting continent, traveling outward across a sequence of regions and then returning the same way to score them. Each turn, a player plays one of three hand cards to the right end of their personal row of eight regions; those cards create goals and contain characters that award points when their conditions are later met. Cards also enter a shared face-up river from which players refill, and simultaneous play uses a priority system that makes turn order and pick timing strategically important. The core loop is arranging and playing cards to set objectives, fulfill earlier demands on the return trip, and outscore opponents.

This game is such a fun puzzle! For my first three plays, and the first time I showed it to friends, there has been a unanimous reaction of "oh man I messed up..." After subsequent plays this is followed by gratification of understanding the strategy, and when cards will "count" towards resources/points. What an ingenious mechanism, and the theme and artwork just adds to the experience. I'm excited to find more combos and improve my high score naturally, and I'll also likely deal out all cards soon and try and craft the best ideal journey. I'll give this one a solid 8/10.
Rules questions
Answered from the rulebook by Ludoya's rules assistant.
How do we set up the Region and Sanctuary cards at the start of the game?
Shuffle the Region deck and deal 3 face‑down to each player (they look at them privately), place the Region deck in the center and reveal as many Region cards as there are players plus one; shuffle the Sanctuary cards into a face‑down Sanctuary deck (page 3).
What do the numbers, day/night icons, Clues, denizen quests, and resource icons on Region cards mean?
The card number is the exploration duration (unique 1–68); sun/moon indicate daytime or nighttime exploration relevance; Clues grant access to more Sanctuaries; the lower part shows denizen quests that give fame at endgame; resources (uddu/okiko/goldlog) are used to satisfy quests and prerequisites (page 4).
When do I get a Sanctuary card during the game?
You receive Sanctuary cards in phase 2 if the exploration duration of the Region you just played is higher than the Region you played previously; you draw one Sanctuary plus one additional Sanctuary per Clue you currently have in your play area (page 6).
If I draw multiple Sanctuary cards, how many can I keep and when do I add it to my tableau?
From the Sanctuary cards you draw that turn you choose one (only one) to add to your play area during the End of the Exploration phase; any leftover Sanctuary cards you drew are placed face‑down under the Sanctuary deck (page 6).
How is turn order determined in the End of the Exploration phase and what do I do on my turn?
Players take turns starting with the player who played the smallest exploration duration that round and proceed upward by duration; on your turn you first choose a Region card from the center (to return your hand to three), then add one chosen Sanctuary to your tableau if you received any (page 6).
How do we score at the end of the game and what is the tiebreaker?
After round 8 reveal your Region cards from the rightmost (last played) to the leftmost and for each Region calculate fame using all face‑up Regions and your Sanctuaries, then add Sanctuary fame; highest total wins, and in case of a tie the tied player with the lowest total exploration duration in their tableau wins (page 7).
