Professor Beatty's Balloon Expedition to the Isle of Dread

In 1875, Professor Beatty leads an expedition by balloon to a mysterious South Pacific island. Local stories tell of frightened villagers, an ancient wall, dangerous monsters, a lost city, ruined tombs, and a magical diamond tied to the power of the island’s supposed gods. Pirates control the intervening islands, making the balloon the expedition’s means of reaching its destination. This scenario variant uses Basic D&D rules with Victorian-era equipment and skills. Players assemble an expedition, choosing supplies and companions while managing the balloon basket’s limited space and carrying capacity.
