Ticket to Ride Map Collection 7: Japan & Italy

Two double-sided maps provide distinct regional challenges: one side shows Japan with a Tokyo subway inset and a shared Bullet Train network, the other shows Italy divided into scoring regions including islands that count double. Players collect and play colored train cards and special ferry cards to claim routes, draft cards, and complete destination tickets. In Japan, claiming Bullet Train routes requires discarding same-color sets to place a shared miniature and advance on a communal track that awards endgame bonuses and penalties. In Tokyo, players link city routes to specific subway stations. In Italy, players score additional points for how many separate regions their networks connect. Components from the base game or Europe are required.

Szabálykérdések

A Ludoya szabályasszisztense válaszol a szabálykönyv alapján.

How many Destination Tickets do I have to keep at the start—and when I draw more later?

On Japan, you’re dealt 4 at setup and must keep at least 2; later, draw 3 and keep at least 1. On Italy, you’re dealt 5 at setup and must keep at least 3; later, draw 4 and keep at least 1. (Japan, p. 2; Rulebook, p. 2; Japan, p. 3; Rulebook, p. 3)

Can I use Ferry Cards or Locomotives to pay for any space on an Italian ferry route?

All gray routes in Italy are ferry routes, but only spaces marked with a wave require Ferry Cards or Locomotives. One Ferry Card covers up to 2 wave spaces; each Locomotive covers 1 space. Ferry Cards can’t pay for regular routes or ferry-route spaces without waves. (Rulebook, p. 2)

If I claim a Bullet Train Route in Japan, can other players use it for their tickets?

Yes. Any player can use a claimed Bullet Train Route to complete Destination Tickets, whether or not they claimed it. The player who claims it advances their Bullet Train Progression Marker by the number of cards played and places one white Bullet Train on the route. (Japan, p. 2; Japan, p. 3)

Do double or triple routes work differently with fewer players?

Yes. With 2 or 3 players, claiming one track locks the other track or tracks in that parallel route group; with 4 or 5 players, all tracks are available, but a player can claim only one. This applies to double routes in Japan and double or triple routes in Italy. (Japan, p. 2; Rulebook, p. 2)

On the Japan map, do the Tokyo and Kokura insets connect to the main map?

Yes. Each inset’s Tokyo or Kokura is treated as the same city as its matching location on the main map, so routes connecting to that city connect across the two map sections. (Japan, p. 3)

For Italy’s Regions bonus, do separate networks count together, and what about islands?

Score each separate network independently, rather than adding its Regions to another network. Sardegna, Sicilia, and Puglia each count as 2 Regions instead of 1 if all cities in that Region are part of the same network. (Rulebook, p. 3)
