Democracy under Siege

A card-driven simulation of the 1933–1940 geopolitical struggle among Democracy, Nazism and Communism. Players take an ideology and, each turn (one year), play event and political-action cards, roll to attempt political moves, and spend political points to influence outcomes. Rounds let players sway minor countries’ allegiances, exploit economic resources, recruit coup cells, send forces to local conflicts, and intervene in civil wars. Successful actions and controlled territories yield victory points, while exploited resources produce military resources used for interventions or to score additional points at turn end. The game runs on die-modified political attempts, immediate event effects, an abstract combat system, and 108 strategy cards that recreate the period’s ideological, diplomatic and armaments tensions.
