Gloom of Thrones

Players control rival noble families in a darkly comic fantasy realm and try to worsen their characters’ lives while improving opponents’. Cards represent characters, events, and modifiers; transparent plastic cards stack so multiple effects remain visible as stories change. On a turn, players play modifiers and event cards to inflict misfortune or grant fortunes, move characters between locations, and manipulate turn order and scoring. Each character accumulates positive and negative points; the family with the lowest total — most tragedy and suffering — wins the round. Game ends after a set number of turns or when a family reaches a final fate.
