Time of Crisis: The Roman Empire in Turmoil, 235-284 AD

Players command rival Roman dynasties during the Crisis of the Third Century, expanding from a single province and a small card pool. On each turn players select cards to fuel actions on the map, recruit and move legions, secure provinces, influence the Senate and populace, and develop their decks to improve future options. The game blends deckbuilding and hand-management with light wargame elements: board position affects which cards can be gained or removed, while barbarian invasions, civil wars, events, and opponents’ plots force tactical responses. Playable in a few hours, it focuses on strategic timing, resource allocation, and political-military maneuvering.
