6: Siege – The Board Game

Two teams of five specialized operators face off in asymmetrical, objective-driven skirmishes. Players choose to play all attackers or all defenders and deploy operators with distinct gadgets and abilities. Attackers breach walls, clear obstacles, and push toward mission objectives using explosives and tools; defenders reinforce positions, set traps, and deny access to protect their goals. Gameplay uses a simulated real-time flow and tactical planning as teams coordinate movements, use line-of-sight, and resolve engagements to complete objectives or eliminate the opposing team.

Two things can be true. Mythic Games, ran a terrible business model, they are not to be trusted if they ever return in any way after their liquidation and what not. I count myself fortunate that I received my KS pledge a while back. Their review would be a 0/10. That said...the designers did an absolute phenomenal job translating the style of tension found in the video game to the board game medium. The gameplay is snappy and full of suspense. Much like the game, you can be easily punished for poor positioning and other mistakes. Also, like the video game though, it is entirely possible to bring a round back from what appeared to be an unwinnable position completely off skill and tactical play. The designer has to be acknowledged for the incredible job they've done here.
