A strategic simulation of Mediterranean power struggles from the Punic Wars through seven centuries of expansion and decline. Players command armies, leaders and fleets on a large hex map, move units, resolve combats, build and fortify cities, and use diplomacy or conquest to subdue neighbors. Two scenarios are provided: a shorter eight-turn scenario focused on the Punic conflicts, and a full twenty-turn campaign that covers the rise and fall of imperial dominance. Designed for two to four players, roles include Eastern and Western imperial forces, Carthage, and a coalition of Greeks, Egyptians, Persians and various barbarian peoples. Victory is achieved by military surrender or annihilation of opponents, or by holding a specified number of cities for the imperial side.
