The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – Nightmare Deck: Shadow and Flame

This expansion reframes a cooperative fantasy quest into a harder, darker challenge by altering the encounter deck with a set of new cards and rules. It adds twenty encounter cards that introduce tougher enemies, more punishing locations, and event-driven complications, plus a Nightmare Mode reference card that specifies which original encounter cards to remove and how to integrate the new ones. Play proceeds like the base scenario but with the modified encounter deck and an extra rule card that adjusts timing and effects, increasing difficulty and forcing different tactical choices from the players.
