A fan-created mission for Orpheus centers on an investigation at the Smithsonian Institute of Fine Art in Washington, DC. Players undertake an intelligence-gathering and fumigation operation for head curator Dr. David Greene, examining the death of purchasing director Herbert Carey and the controversial acquisition of a Renaissance painting called Dies Ignes. Carey opposed the six-million-dollar purchase shortly before his apparent suicide, while the painting’s unknown Venetian dealer and the second senior purchaser raise further questions.
