Necromancy is a school of magic focused on speaking with, awakening, and controlling the dead. In many lands, it is viewed with suspicion or disgust, though some practitioners seek guidance from ancestors, saints, or the secrets carried into the grave. The art begins with communicating with the dead and extends to guiding spirits, questioning ghosts, rousing lingering life in a corpse, or travelling to the realm of the dead to restore a powerful soul. Those who create undead are generally feared, while those who deal with the dead peacefully may be more readily tolerated.
