Operation Storm-333

The USSR plots to overthrow the Afghan government in Kabul in 1979, initiating the Afghan-Soviet War. In this solitaire game, players plan the operation by recruiting KGB, GRU, and Army leaders, mobilizing units, gathering intelligence, and preparing attacks on eight targets. The execution phase resolves eight sequential tactical missions using spetsnaz, special troops, and airborne infantry and vehicles on point-to-point maps. Random events and operational choices affect support, defender alert levels, and available intelligence, while victory is assessed through the perspectives of Soviet institutions, Afghan factions, the United States, and the international community.
