White mage Franz cannot secure a job at any of the thirty-five white magic businesses he approaches, largely because he freezes during interviews. He applies to Necrogrant Black Magic Inc., expecting the work to involve bloodshed, sacrifices, and other grim practices, but discovers that the company is more accommodating than its reputation suggests. The setting follows Franz as he joins the black magic industry under President Cercer and her familiar.
