In a distant future, a weakened Emperor leaves a vast interstellar empire divided among competing guilds. Players build a power base by connecting with military, trading, religious, engineering, expansionist, and political factions, seeking enough support to claim the Galactic Throne. Players establish networks, use events to gain advantages, and slander rival claimants. Each connection increases support from certain guilds, while received slander reduces it. The player with the most support at the end of the game becomes the new leader of the Empire.
