Mortain Counterattack: The Drive to Avranches

This game depicts the German armored counterattack at Mortain in August 1944, as four panzer divisions attempt to seize Mortain and Hill 317 and cut the American supply route through Avranches. German forces need a rapid breakthrough, while the US 30th Infantry Division must delay the attack until reinforcements arrive. Using a battalion-level hex-and-counter system, players maneuver mechanized and specialized units and commit support fire during combat. Mortars, artillery, cannon, and aircraft can shift an attack or defense at the last moment, making victory dependent on movement, firepower, and careful management of limited assets.
