Players send apprentices across four alternating day-and-night rounds to gather ephemeral and magical resources and earn Veneration Points. On each turn, apprentices are placed on action spaces to generate resources used immediately to build new tiles, activate Cauldron tiles for points and scrolls, petition goddess blessings, or study Groves. The game centers on worker placement and resource management with combo-driven actions: tile placement unlocks divinity bonuses, cauldron activations convert resources into endgame scoring, and prayers grant one-off effects. Efficient timing and sequencing of apprentice actions determine how strategies develop over the course of the festival.
