Dara

Dara

A Nigerian variant of the traditional Morris family of games for two players or teams. Players each have twelve pieces and begin by alternately placing them onto a 5×6 grid of intersections using sticks or stones as markers. After placement, players take turns sliding one piece into an orthogonally adjacent empty space. When a move creates a straight row of three allied pieces, the mover removes one enemy piece that is not itself part of a three-in-a-row. Moves that would create rows longer than three are not allowed. The game ends when a player cannot form a three-piece row, leaving the opponent as the winner.
