Ghost Stories
Players are Taoist monks cooperating to protect a village from waves of ghosts and the incarnations of the lord of hell, Wu-Feng. On each turn a new ghost is spawned and placed on the village board; monks move between tiles to use special village actions, set traps, un-haunt locations, resurrect fallen monks or exorcise adjacent ghosts. Exorcisms are resolved by rolling colored dice and spending colored Tao tokens to match a ghost’s resistance; different ghosts and Wu-Feng incarnations have unique abilities that complicate play. The group wins by defeating the final incarnation(s) of Wu-Feng and loses if too many tiles become haunted, all monks die, or the deck runs out while Wu-Feng remains.

Max7.0 The first thing to mention is that this game is HARD. Really hard. But if you're into a challenge (and a lot of fun) then this might be one to consider picking up. As a collaborative game, ghost stories manages to make a frantic yet rewarding experience, despite the issues often found in co-op games. For example, the irritating alpha player system that so often arises in games like pandemic and betrayal is completely non-existent here, due entirely to the sheer difficulty of the game. If no-one knows what the hell is going on then no-one can take over. The gameplay itself is hard to understand at first, but after a few games it clicks, making for some of the most exhilerating and satifying moments I've ever experienced in a game. Furthermore, the semi-asymetricality of the character abilities adds a touch of personality to the game, forging roles within the group aside from those explicitely mentioned. These abilities are very well balanced, with each feeling satisfactorially different and significant, yet not so game breaking as to ensure the game revolves around the powers assigned to each player. Honestly, there isn't much I can think of that the game lacks, aside from maybe a difficulty that exludes a certain playerbase. It's snappy, intense, adrenaline-inducing, and genuinly fun, all contributing to a spectacular and often hilarious mish-mash of mechanics that still seem to blend into each other expertly. If you are a seasoned gamer looking for a challenge, I would wholeheartedly reccomend this game.

One of the hardest cooperative board games ever. Created by Bauza. I thought is gonna like me more, but I found it kind of imposible and not so great.
