Carson City: The Lawyer / Editor

This character card gives a player two alternative abilities tied to different roles. As the lawyer, the player may immediately purchase any unowned parcel at its normal price and cannot be challenged when doing so; in duels over parcel purchases the challenger returns their cowboy to their personal reserve before the duel is resolved. The lawyer role imposes a cash limit of $60. As the editor, the player gains bonus victory points during income phases: at the end of rounds 1–4 the player scores one victory point for each $5/$10/$15/$20 of income from their buildings respectively (rounded up). Income from attacks by other players or money stolen by others does not count. The editor role has a cash limit of $40.
