Players run rival gladiator schools in ancient Rome, recruiting and training fighters, courting patrons, and managing income during a tableau-building Machinations Phase. When arenas open, play shifts to tactical combat: each gladiator has unique stats and abilities, and players deploy tactic and reaction cards to support actions and respond to threats. Synergy between fighters and timely card play determine outcomes of clashes. Victory is earned by winning arena battles to gain glory; the first player to reach the required glory total wins.
