The crew aboard a damaged ship confronts an alien presence that spreads auditory hallucinations and mental corruption through the corridors. Players explore the ship, discover and deal with multiple nest sites, and face different enemy types that focus on whispering, spreading insanity, and herding crew toward nests. Movement and events trigger Whisper rolls and Insanity draws; accumulating Insanity and Contamination cards imposes penalties and can alter or remove characters' control. Combat and encounters often prioritize imposing insanity tokens over physical harm, though special foes (a persistent Stalker and a late-emerging Despoiler) inflict real wounds. Cooperative positioning and careful route choice mitigate mind-affecting threats while crew attempt mission objectives and escape.
