Dune: The Dice Game

Roll dice to vie for control of Arrakis, the desert planet. Choose a Faction, form alliances, recruit and deploy troops, and use politics and Kanly to influence battles. Sandstorms, Shai-Hulud, leaders, and the dice affect each conflict. Control a required number of strategic Regions to win, or survive until the end of six rounds.

We played "Dune the Dice Game" twice, not to be confused with "Dune Express". Some people in the group hated it because the die luck was too rough for their tastes. Other players didn't really understand the concept of how one plays a player negotiation game. They just played 'punch the perceived leader' with resulted in the player who's ability was that they win if nobody wins, to win... which actually meant that the player who guesses who will win and if they guess right, then THEY win, to win. I feel like these player negotiation games SHOULD work, but they never seem to with my group. ★ Art, Iconography and components functional ☆ Clever or interesting mechanisms ★ Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players ★ Multiple plays stay interesting ★ Low or mitigatable luck elements ☆☆☆☆☆ Raw enjoyment
