Fort Sumter: The Secession Crisis, 1860-61

A two-player card-driven game portraying the secession crisis of 1860–61, with one player representing the Union and the other the secessionists. Strategy cards are played for their events or values to acquire and maneuver political capital across a map of twelve spaces. These spaces form four crisis dimensions: Political, Secession, Public Opinion, and Armaments. Players score by controlling dimensions and secret objective spaces over three rounds, while managing escalating tension and the timing of the Final Crisis. Set-aside cards then shape the concluding political confrontation, determining the outcome before the bombardment of Fort Sumter and the outbreak of the Civil War.
