In the land of Skaaland, each player leads a clan of dwarves seeking respect through gold prospecting and beer brewing. After placing their pieces on the regional game board, players take one action per turn: recruit or move dwarves, prospect for gold, mine discovered gold, or open and move taverns. Discovering gold attracts dwarves from neighbouring regions, while failed prospecting permanently rules out gold in that area. A clan holding the majority in a region can open a tavern and score respect points from opposing dwarves nearby, though drinkers may flee or return with reinforcements.
