South China Sea: Modern Naval Conflict in the South Pacific

An integrated political-military simulation of near-future tensions and conflict in the South China Sea. Players represent China, the United States, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, using cards and structured negotiations based on real-world events to influence the political situation. These actions can achieve victory without combat, but high-impact events may trigger armed conflict. When fighting begins, play shifts to a hex-and-counter system covering the region at 45 nautical miles per hex, with air squadrons, ship pairs, and land battalions. Naval units can move multiple hexes, while stealth-based checks restrict movement through areas covered by modern anti-ship missiles. Negotiations remain available during each turn.
