Von Manstein's Triumph

Assault on Sevastopol in June 1942, as German forces launch the final offensive against the besieged Soviet fortress before the summer campaign begins. This two-player, card-driven game uses wooden blocks to represent German and Soviet forces maneuvering across an area-based map. Cards provide movement, assaults, counterattacks, bombardments, equipment, and historical events. The German player must break through fortified defenses and capture Victory Point areas, while the Soviet player trades forces for time, using fortifications and counterattacks to delay the advance. Victory depends on controlling the most points when the game ends, with reinforcements and the passing turns adding pressure to the assault.

Cool game, but horribly translated rulebook, making it a real pain to learn. Other problems is that the cards doesn't have a name, and that each card and token is named differently relative to where you look in the rulebook making you question what said card or token it actually means. Seems like the rulebook was translated by multiple translators who couldn't agree on calling it Engineers or Pioneers (same tokens), Fighters, Sweepers, Squadrons (same card). Will probably re-buy a 2nd edition IF these things are fixed: 1. Pre-written starting positions on the map for every single piece. 2. Rewritten rulebook where cards and tokens has the correct name. 3. Rulebook is shortened by 50% as most of the text in the rulebook doesn't serve any purpose other than make the players confused. 4. Clearer player aids where all the small exceptions to artillery cards and such are listed so you dont have to check the rulebook for legal uses all the time.
