Army of Roussillon: Les Folies d'Espagne – The War of the Grand Alliance in Spain, 1689-1697

A two-player historical wargame covering the War of the Grand Alliance in Catalonia and northeastern Spain from 1689 to 1697. One side commands France’s modern army while balancing offensives, garrisons, supply, local resistance, and support from Versailles. The other directs Spain’s mixed forces, using tercios, cavalry, militia, mercenaries, guerrillas, and difficult terrain to contain the invasion or strike into Roussillon. Naval operations, foreign intervention, political tensions, and peasant revolts shape the campaign. Two map sections depict the region at four kilometers per hex, with 600 counters representing battalions and regiments, along with rules, charts, display cards, and historical commentary.
