Fields of Battle Volume 1, The Great Northern War

A two-player tactical game covering a series of Swedish battles during the Great Northern War. Scenarios are designed for quick play, with most featuring 15–30 units per side and 15 turns. Each turn, players move leaders and regular units, conduct combat, and rally forces. Initiative combines the number of leaders on the board with a die roll, while tactical cards modify combat rolls, strengthen defenses, or hinder an opponent. Victory conditions vary by scenario and generally involve capturing key areas or reducing enemy morale. Battles include Narva, Poltava, and Gadebusch.
